Poem of the Week

Each week we feature a poem by one of our authors. Take a few moments to enjoy it. And then, if you'd like to pass it along to a friend who could use a pause-poésie in their day, click on the "share this poem" link below.

#414 (you came to me in a dream)

you came to me in a dream
and I remembered who I was supposed to be
you showed me the drum
and sang me songs
I couldn't understand
but knew from way back when

you were my other half
if I believed in such things
but too far in the past
to be relevant to who
I needed you to be now

or maybe
you were there
to remind me
it's okay to be traditional
to sing with my voice
to beat the drum with my hand
to connect

you stalked
my dreams
with stealth
with moose meat and a song in my hand
with stories and culture
and language and community

waiting for me

right where I left you
